In the story, Bilbo is chosen by wizard Gandalf to travel with 13 dwarves in an attempt to get their treasure back from a dragon named Smaug. The trailer shows some of the main protagonists of The Lord of the Rings, such as Galadriel, Elrond and Gollum.
The Peter Jackson-directed film starring Martin Freeman will launch a new trilogy set in Middle Earth, the fictitious world created by British fantasy pioneer J.R.R. Tolkien. It is set to hit theaters worldwide mid-December, and the following chapters are scheduled for releases in December 2013 and July 2014.
